Quantification of more than 200 pesticide residues in fat and oil samples using LC- and GC-MS/MS and GC-Orbitrap

The ability of checking for MRL compliance for commodities with high fat content of plant origin as well as fat of animal origin using one sample preparation method for GC-amenable pesticides and one sample preparation method for LC-amenable pesticides was tested. Therefore, a quantitative validation study on a high number of GC- and LC-amenable pesticides including analytes relevant for plant oils and new analytes of interest under article 12 review was conducted.

166 pesticides were successfully validated using a gel permeation chromatography (GPC) method (EN 1528:1997) and GC-Orbitrap detection. New analytes of interest under article 12 review were additionally validated using GC-MS/MS detection. 65 pesticides were successfully validated using QuOil method (CEN/TS 17062:2020) for sample preparation and a LC-TQsystem for quantification.
