Dear Colleagues,

We would like to announce the first European Proficiency Test for Pesticide Residues in Special Commodities (EUPT-FV-SC01, Chia Seeds), organised by the European Union Reference Laboratory for Residues of Pesticides in Fruits and Vegetables on behalf of the European Commission, Health and Food Safety Directorate-General (DG-SANTE).

This EUPT-FV-SC01 is directed at all National Reference Laboratories (NRLs) and all Official Laboratories (OfLs) in the EU Member States. Laboratories outside this EURL/NRL/OfL-Network may be allowed to participate on a case-by-case basis. Participation in this intercomparative study remains on a voluntary basisGiven the limited material available, the registration forms will be accepted on a first come first served basis.

The test item, approximately 25 g of chia seeds containing pesticide residues will be shipped to participants on 6th November 2017 (If any laboratory has holidays in the week of the shipment, please inform the organizer to rearrange the shipment).

The laboratories have to determine the residue levels and report the concentrations for each of the pesticides that they detect. The participants can download the Target pesticide List clicking here: Target List (excel file)  Target list in pdf

This list of target pesticides also contains the Minimum Required Reporting Level (MRRL) for each pesticide, please be aware that some MRRLs are lower than the general 0.01 mg/kg.

The timetable for this proficiency test is (please note that the Calendar may be subject to minor changes): 

Opening Registration period 16th October 2017
Deadline for receiving Application Form from laboratories. 26th October 2017
Sample distribution 6th November 2017
Deadline for receiving results 27th November 2017
Preliminary Report: only results, no statistical treatment 11th December 2017
Preliminary Report with statistical treatment 15th January 2018
Final Report July 2018


The sample delivery will be 250 € for EU National Reference Laboratories and EU Official Laboratories and 350 € for the rest of laboratories. Regarding payment procedures, each laboratory can specify their details and invoice requests when applying for the test.  

Please, do not pay for this EUPT until we send you the invoice.

Remember to include your Laboratory Code in the subject of the bank transfer.
